Biography of Martin Palacios
Before moving to Tennessee, Martin's music career began at Pensacola Christian Academy. As a music instructor there, he taught private lessons for violin, viola, and cello students, as well as conducted the intermediate string orchestra. Several of his private students won scholarships while participating in the annual Pensacola Music Teachers Association sonata competition. When he became a graduate assistant at PCC, Martin also taught private lessons at the collegiate level and performed with the resident string quartet.
Since moving to Memphis, Tennessee, Martin teaches a successful music studio at Bellevue Baptist Church School of Performing Arts; and he performs regularly with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, Jackson Symphony Orchestra, and the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. His students have won orchestra competitions for All-West and All-State orchestra. In addition to his successful teaching, Martin's performance career has brought him to national and international locations including Italy, New England, New York City, and Washington D.C. He has performed with prestigious musicians such as Sandi Patty, Natalie Grant, Veritas Five, and Michael W. Smith.
Martin believes that music is more than just an art, but rather, it is a tool that fashions and builds character in the life of musicians. Music students learn analytical and aural skills. Students learn to budget time, to pursue excellence, and to conquer any arising difficulty in music. Martin further believes that music is to be shared with others, to be used in building and edifying the body of Christ, and to glorify God. Since the prophet Isaiah proclaimed, "The Lord was ready to save me: therefore we will sing my songs to the stringed instruments all the days of our life in the house of the Lord," Martin believes, whether teaching or performing, that music must honor and glorify God.
